Rotorua Chamber of Pride is a charitable trust dedicated to uplifting, celebrating, and advocating for our local LGBTQIA+ community — and we’re entering an exciting new chapter.
As part of our rebrand, we invited the community to help shape our new logo and merchandise through an art competition. This exhibition showcases selected entries alongside incredible mahi toi from local Takatāpui and LGBTQIA+ artists.
This is more than an exhibition — it’s a celebration of belonging, identity, and the vision of a Rotorua where LGBTQIA+ people are seen, supported, and proud.

The Invisibles Davide Conti
5th September
Cottage Gallery
Originally from Sicily, Davide Conti is a
Rotorua-based photographer drawn to bold
and honest storytelling through portraiture
and street photography. His work focuses on
people, those often unseen or overlooked
capturing raw emotion, presence, and the
untold stories behind every face. At FotoFest,
he will present ‘The Invisibles’, a series that
began with quiet portraits of people on the
margins and evolved into a more confronting
project documenting gang members and
street communities. Through his work,
Davide aims to challenge assumptions and
invite reflection on identity, vulnerability,
and connection. For Davide, photography is
a way of witnessing and sharing the stories
and emotions of his encounters on the street
through the eye of the camera.

Celebrate the season of renewal through artworks by Jane Johnson-Matua, created with uku (wild clay) gathered from the whenua of local iwi and handmade harakeke paper. These reclaimed materials carry the stories of place, whakapapa, and the changing rhythms of kōanga, inviting us to reflect on our connection to the land and its enduring cycles of growth.

Through slow shutter photography of everyday fabrics, Chris Melville transforms the familiar into vast, atmospheric landscapes—inviting us to look again and find the extraordinary in the ordinary. Chris is an award-winning New Zealand abstract photographer whose work transforms everyday materials into atmospheric, landscape-like imagery.
