Friday 26th June from 7PM, Studio One, PLAY ON: Le Sujet Parle by Emily Duncan – In this age of fake news and Photoshopping, how can we ever know that what we’re hearing and seeing is real? Le Sujet Parle is a play about stories, truths, lies and ethics told through a series of monologues. Join us for this play reading in Studio One at The Arts Village.

Le Sujet Parle was written by Emily Duncan and was awarded Outstanding Script at the Dunedin Theatre Awards 2019. Read by Rachael Bell, Angela Frank, Kira Lees and Richard Rugg. Presented by arrangement with Playmarket NZ and with support from Creative Communities Rotorua.

Saturday 11th July, 11am to 12.30pm, Self [isolation] Portraits Opening Event – ‘Self [isolation] Portraits’ is a portrait exhibition that showcases the artists’ self portraits while in isolation. Open to anyone with links to Rotorua, this group show reflects on the experiences of being in our own bubbles and the times we spent distancing during the lockdown.  This community exhibition has a koha entry fee and is open to artworks of any medium and form.


Monday to Friday, 6th to 10th and 13th to 17th July, July Holiday Art Activities for 8-12 year olds – We will be offering the following a free drop-in activity over the July Holidays Tuesdays to Friday 10am to 12noon painting local landscapes with Maui including Mt Tarawera, Mokoia Island, and Mt Ngongotaha. Parents must accompany their children to the village for this and registrations are not required.
