Under the Stars

Opening: 7th June – 5th July

Under the Stars is an exhibition that celebrates Aotearoa’s national holiday, Matariki. This exhibition provides an opportunity to all Rotorua-based artists, whether they are amateurs or professionals, to submit and showcase their artworks centred on the themes of Matariki.

In order to submit your artwork, all artists must fill out an entry form. The entry form includes important information including the deadline for submissions, artwork specifications, and the terms and conditions.

Te whare Pukenga
Kāhui whetu o Te Arawa

Opening: 7th June – 5th July

Te Whare Pukenga o Rehua Ariki is a star constellation

of special significance to Te Arawa.

The primacy of this constellation pays homage to the supreme being, god Rehua Ariki who resides in Te Toi o ngā Rangi. Te Arawa have many unique kāhui whetu. Some of these kāhui whetu are venerated in the titonga ‘He Pōhuatau’ nā irirangi Tiakiawa.

Kua Haehae ngā Hihi o Matariki / The Rays of Matariki are Spread

Mokoia Intermediate

Opening: 7th June – 5th July

n collaboration with Under The Stars Matariki Exhibition artwork presented by the Mokoia Intermediate Akonga group will celebrate the natural world. Each piece of artwork will feature a kaitiaki crafted from metal, which connects to each of the stars.

POP UP EXHIBITION

Natasha Morrison

Opening: 10th July – 9th August

Maumahara Gallery


Natasha’s paintings are crafted for versatile display, allowing viewers to appreciate two distinct cultures in one piece. In this painting one side of the artwork features the Māori Ngarara, a vibrant lizard that symbolizes strength and adaptability, while the other side showcases the Aboriginal Ngarara, a fascinating reptile that connects to the rich stories of the land. 


75th Jubilee Exhibition

Rotorua Camera Club

Opening: 12th July – 8th August

Wallis and Mosaic Galleries


To commemorate the 75th anniversary , join the Rotorua Camera club in their Public exhibition of works. Celebrating this milestone, images from novice, Intermediate and advanced grade members as well as a cellphone section will be on display with a brief history of the club.
