Pick up information,  event maps, and free glow sticks to take on your Colour the Night adventure!

 

LIVE MUSIC 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Enjoy live music performed acoustically by local artist Nat Mann in the Arts Village Cafe.

 

ART EXHIBITION 5.30pm to 8.30pm

‘Te Haerenga / Journey’ is a visual art exhibition inspired by the journey that brought us all here. View over 70 artworks by 50 local artists including featured artist Jamie Rolleston. This exhibition is across the Studio, Cottage and Mosaic Galleries at The Arts Village.

 

FREE DROP-IN ART ACTIVITY 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Work with our local artist tutor Lani Eyles using ultra-violet and recycled materials to create an artwork that lights up under the blacklights. Well suited to children but open to all ages including the young at heart. 

 

PHOTOBOOTH 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Come take the perfect #colourthenightnz photo in our funky photo booth set and props that feature space, stars, and Winter.

 

BLACK LIGHT SPACE 5.30pm to 8.30pm- Eric Bridgeman

Immerse yourself in this UV black-lit room and see your face-paint glow amongst a sensory landscape full of flora and fauna installations created by local artist and tutor Maui Riley and the Holiday Arts Academy kids.

 

POTTERY DEMONSTRATION 5.30pm to 8.30pm

View works and live demonstrations by the Rotorua Potters Group in Studio Three.

 

Venue #2: PLAY ON at Level 13 (1141 Eruera St)
*Please note, as Level 13 is a licensed premises, any persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

 

LIVE PLAY READING 5.30pm to 6.30pm

Stop in to see this live play reading of  The Elves and the Shoemaker. It’s a modern twist on the classic tale, with lots of laughs and silliness. PLAY ON is a play reading series of New Zealand work presented by local performers. Presented by Big Picture Minor Deets by arrangement with Playmarket. Running time 60 minutes, no tickets required. (*Under 18’s must be accompanied).

Come get a sneak peek at the newly opened Level 13 Theme Rooms, and see dolls by Liz Pearce on display. (*Under 18’s must be accompanied). 

 

Venue #3: Inspire Gallery (1138 Hinemoa Street)

ART EXHIBITION 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Inspire Gallery will be open for the public to come and view artworks. Inspire Gallery showcases ability, creativity, and opens the door to the good things in life. Gallery works are for sale and put together by people with disabilities working towards enabling a good life furthing independence.

 

Venue #4: Te Manawa (intersection Hinemoa and Tutanekai Streets)

SONG CLOUD 5pm to 10pm

Take a journey through the long white cloud to experience this immersive sound and light installation celebrating Matariki. Accompanied by a specially composed soundscape by James Webster (Te Arawa, Tainui) using traditional taonga pūoro (singing treasures).

Venue #5: Lakes Performing Arts Centre (1215 Hinemoa Street

OPEN CLASS & MUSICAL PERFORMANCES 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Come and dance the night away at the Lakes Performing Arts Centre where you can join in on an open zumba class, plus enjoy performances from the talented Nikau and Ian. As an added bonus, there will be hot chocolate and fudge!

 

Venue #6: Rotorua Night Market (Tutanekai St)

NIGHT MARKET & INFO CENTRE 5pm to 8.30pm

Enjoy some hot kai from the food stalls and listen to live music before grabbing a free glow stick and map to start your Colour the Night adventure!

 

Venue #7: Flux Gallery (1150 Pukuatua St)

ART EXHIBITION 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Come and check out the artwork on show in Flux Gallery, by local artists Stephen Arthur and Kelly Shrimpton.

 

Venue #8: Rotorua Library, Te Aka Mauri (1127 Haupapa St)

DROP-IN ART: STARS AND STRATEGY 5.30pm to 8pm

Join Rotorua Library to learn a traditional Māori strategy game and make beautiful a beautiful star weaving from coloured yarn. Visit our multi-sensory room to see your face paint glow.

Venue #9: Te Rūnanga Tea House (Queens Dr)

LIVE MUSIC 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Enjoy live music Mc’D by Bobby Mihi-Howard including The Thermaleles and more!

 

Venue #10: Children’s Art House (Queens Dr)

CRAFTS AND FACE PAINTING 5.30pm to 8.30pm

The team from Rotorua Museum will be making paper spinners and doing glow-in-the-dark face-painting. Come in and join the action then see how your face looks in the UV rooms at the Arts Village or Rotorua Library.

 

Venue #11: Government Gardens (Queens Dr))

LASER LIGHT SHOW 6.30pm and 7.30pm

Come down to Government Gardens to watch two spectacular laser light shows. The two eight minute shows will be best viewed from the Princes Gate end of the gardens looking towards Rotorua Museum. The displays have been created by Laser Events Rotorua and will be accompanied by music.
