Art in the Park 2023

A great day out in the beautiful Government Gardens!

Art in the Park 2023 is a free-to-attend arts market and festival that has been running in this beautiful spot for well over 20 years and has heaps to see, do, and enjoy. On Sunday 19th of February, local artists and creators will be displaying their work in the beautiful Government Gardens. Rotorua’s iconic free family-friendly arts market event with lots of art stalls, demonstrations, live music, a free kids activity and some choice coffee and yummy food. Set in the idyllic Government Gardens this event is one not to be missed and a great day out!

Art Activity: Paua Mirrors
Whānau will create decorated mirrors using paua shells, sand, and other beautiful things from Tangaroa. This is will be facilitated by Jess Tumata-Lane. Parent supervision will be needed for this activity.

Here’s what you need to know if you are coming along:

  • The event runs from 10am to 4pm set in the beautiful Government Gardens.
  • More details to be confirmed closer to the event date but the day will include artist stalls, live demos, delicious kai, live performances, and free art-making experiences for all ages.
  • Local musicians performing on the day will be playing from 10am until the market closes at 4pm. Music will be at the Band Rotunda near Te Runanga Tearooms and we have plenty of seating but feel free to bring your own picnic setup.
  • Bring a sun hat, bring a light layer, and if you are keen to do some shopping, bring cash as not all stallholders will have EFTPOS facilities.
