AUGUST

Saturday 4th August - Saturday 25th August, Exhibition: FEMALE: Face and Form. Born in Rotorua, Ann Woolliams studied at Wellington Polytechnic School of Design, 1975-77, graduating with a Diploma of Visual Communication. F E M A L E : F a c e & F i g u r e puts the spotlight on the female gender. This figurative work shows the beauty of women, and speaks for itself. This is a short history of her work: Acrylic paintings depicting the passion and the colour of the female form.

Saturday 4th August - Saturday 25th August, Exhibition: WE ARE WOMAN . Rachael Grai is an emerging self-taught artist who has used this opportunity to platform the voices of 10 strong diverse local women, as well as extend her oeuvre and develop skills in the 2D medium. WE ARE WOMAN : An exhibition of ten women from the Rotorua region who wear a physical manifestation of a word that represents and empowers them. 'Face me, look me in the eyes, hear me and really see me'.

Friday 15th August, 7pm to 8.30pm, PLAY ON: Bare by Toa Fraser. Read by Semu Filipo and Simone Walker, 'Bare' is the story of many characters and their intersecting lives. PLAY ON is a live script reading series of New Zealand plays. It's unrehearsed, unpredictable and unmissable. SEPTEMBER

Wednesday 5th September, 10:45am to 11:45am, Community Networking Morning Tea - Creatives and all other interested community members are invited to join us for an informal morning tea to share, build connections and find out about things coming up in Rotorua.

Thursday 13th September, 1.30pm-3pm, Kōrero On: "Why does Rotorua get such ____ funding support for the arts?" - (aka a closer look at Regional Funding Support for the Arts) Join us for a [short, sweet, and energetic] session to share and listen with other creatives about how things are going for you. We have presentations around some of the great things happening through the Percent for Arts Fund (Marc Spijkerbosch) and Creative Communities Scheme Rotorua (Julie Parsons), and time to share how things are going otherwise. This is a ticketed event with limited spaces so please make sure you don't miss out. More information and tickets available here.

Monday to Friday 1st to 5th, and 8th to 12th October, 9:00am to 3:00pm, Holiday Art Academy for 8 to 12 year olds in Studio Two - A holiday school holiday programme taught by practicing artists with activities that teach practical art skills in a fun and safe environment - more information available soon.
