Trash to Treasure: Scraffito drawing on upcycled CD's and DVD's. Reusing discarded CD's - paint, scraffito (scratch) into old discs to create bold, simple, effective artworks.

Taught by local expert David Remmerswaal from Dubzz Digital Marketing. This training sessions will include a prepared course hand out, an instructor for the time of the training workshop and the opportunity for all students to follow up with any questions after the workshop. You will learn how to:

  • Create an effective Instagram strategy for your organisation
  • Connect with your community and grow your following
  • Connect Instagram with other social media channels
  • Measure the effectiveness of your Instagram efforts

All classes are held in Studio One, you will need to bring with you a laptop/iPad or other device with Wi-Fi access.

Tabitha is a self-taught artist addicted to the unique beauty of fluid mediums, allowing the interacting moments in life to flow into her art. She uses fluid art to escape the daily stressors that life puts on us. Tabitha practices the following art methods: Acrylic Fluid Abstraction, Resin Abstraction, Non-representational abstract and Glass fusing.

Using a microwave Kiln learn the basics to glass fusing. Walk away with a one of kind pendant.

April School Holiday ProgramA holiday art school taught by artists with activities that teach practical art skills in a fun and safe environment.

Dates for the programme are as follows:

Art Adventuring for 5 - 7 year olds: Tuesday 18th - Friday 21st April, 9am - 3pm

Kids Art Workshops for 8 - 12 year olds: Tuesday 18th - Friday 28th April, 9am - 3pm

*This excludes Easter Monday (17th April) and Anzac Day (25th April). The Arts Village is closed on all public holidays.

Rhonda is a local craft person, who has been involved in the industry for around 15 years, travelling throughout New Zealand and Australia with a well-known paper craft company located in Auckland.

During this time, Rhonda has run many classes and demonstrations using her vast knowledge of tools and techniques. Her ambition is to share her passion with others, giving them the opportunity to have a go at craft to ignite and inspire their creative spark.

Her motto is “don’t be shy, come and try!”

Show me your flair come and meet here. A card making experience, fun for all. 3 Cards, 3 Techniques, 3 Hours. Rubber stamping, embossing, stickers, combined with the use of craft machines and much more.

Art in The Park 2017

Art in the Park is an annual festival of Arts and Music set in the beautiful Government Gardens of Rotorua being held on a rescheduled date of Sunday 26th March, from 10am - 4pm

Wander among the market stalls of local artists and artisans, with live demonstrations and lots to see and buy. 

Listen to the great live music by local musicians coming from the Band Rotunda, and bring the kids down to do a free art activity at the Arts Village Kids Club stall.

A great family day out, we hope to see you there!

Hanna Maryam Samri is the owner of hanakrafts, an online handmade paper goods store. She is a self-taught bookbinder and loves all kinds of paper crafts. When she’s not messing about in her home studio, she can be found hiking, baking or reading contemporary fiction.

Ever wanted to learn how to make your own books? In this taster class, you will learn two basic bookbinding methods and bring home your own handmade books.

"After achieving national awards and recognition for my portraiture, this is the first time that I have had the opportunity to exhibit in my home area. I wanted this show to have a very “LOCAL” flavour so I searched for the right images to reflect this."
