CALL FOR ARTISTS TO CREATE WORKS FOR ART SHOW WITH A TWIST
Rotorua artists and creatives are welcomed once again to be part of a special art exhibition at The Arts Village this December. The 200 Show is a visually stunning exhibition of works that are all 200mm by 200mm and priced at $200 or less.
The 200 Show runs from 3rd December 2016 at The Arts Village until 28th January 2017. The affordable art pricing gives Christmas shoppers a way to support local artists.
Artists are encouraged to have fun with the brief and can create up to 3 works to enter into the show which can be using any medium. The resulting exhibition showcases Rotorua and the wider Bay of Plenty’s amazing artistic talent in a fun way.
Artists interested in submitting work to the 200 Show can pick up an entry form online at www.artsvillage.org.nz/200 or from The Arts Village at 1240 Hinemaru Street. Completed entry forms and art works must be delivered to The Arts Village between 10am and 4pm on Friday 25th or Saturday 26th November to be included in the show.
The exhibition will be opening on Friday 2nd December at 5pm and members of the public are invited to join artists and The Arts Village team for a drink and nibbles in the gallery with all works for sale on the night.
All works submitted to the exhibition must be priced at $200 or less and be no bigger than 200mm by 200mm (or 200mm by 200mm by 200mm for 3D works). Frames and canvases of the correct size are able to be purchased through The Arts Village or can be supplied on any frame/canvas of the correct size, a hanging guide is available with the registration form.
The 200 Show is funded by the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust and the Rotorua Arts Village Trust and was first held at The Arts Village in 2014. The show has been a huge success over the last two years with a large number of sales for the Bay of Plenty artists exhibiting. Previous shows have each featured over 120 works by both emerging and established artists working a mix of different artforms including watercolour, acrylic, oil paint, sculpture and drawings.
The Arts Village is a not-for-profit registered charity, with a vision for Rotorua being a community where everyone who wants to participate in the arts, can. The village is an exhibition space and home to The Arts Village Market as well as a range of different interest groups that meet on a regular basis, an arts-based school holiday program, children’s art activities, an artist-run shop and a variety of different classes and events. With a constantly growing user base of more than 20,000 people using the building each year, The Arts Village is a thriving community facility for the people of Rotorua.
